Holistic healing, Yoga, Craniosacral Therapy and Jin Shin Jyutsu in St. Albans and surrounding areas in Hertfordshire

Life expresses itself as motion and all healthy, living tissues subtly 'breathe' with the motion of life. In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body's tissues may contract. Over time any unresolved tensions, strains or traumas may create states of inertia in the body, which may accumulate and hinder our bodies natural motion, and thus our ability to function fully . Common causes of inertia are physical injuries, emotional and psychological trauma or stresses, birth trauma and toxicity.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy takes a 'whole person' approach to healing and involves the therapist listening  to the subtle rhythms and sensing patterns of inertia and congestion. Using her hands to reflect back to the body the pattern it is holding, Nicola provides an opportunity for the body to let go of its restrictive pattern and return to an easier mode of functioning. The emphasis is to encourage and enhance the body's own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. It is gentle, safe and non-invasive; and as such may be an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses. Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for people of all ages including babies, children and the elderly, and may be effective in acute or chronic cases.

Jin Shin Jyutsu

"The body remembers what the mind forgets; it is through somatic experiencing that we can access and release stored traumatic memories."                    Peter Levine

"The Art of the Creator through man of knowing and compassion"

Each of us are unique, and contain within us the wisdom to heal ourselves. Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art, which helps us to uncover this wisdom and access our innate healing abilities.

We function best when our internal (subtle) energy flows freely. Our energy, oversees all the processes of our body down to the cellular level, and is the matrix upon which our body is built. Stress, environmental factors, poor diet, and injury all interfere with its flow. Blocked or restricted flow of subtle energy can lead to discomfort in body, mind, and spirit. When stress and other adverse conditions are prolonged, the initial disharmony can deepen, causing disease. Jin Shin Jyutsu encourages the restoration of harmony.

Through Jin Shin Jyutsu our awareness is awakened to the simple fact that we are endowed with the ability to harmonise and balance ourselves (in rhythm with the universe) physically, mentally and spiritually.

"Through Jin Shin Juytsu our awareness is awakened to the simple fact that all that is needed for harmony and balance physically, mentally, emotionally, digestively and spiritually is within MYSELF. Through this awareness, the feeling of complete peace, serenity, security, the oneness within is evident.’" Mary Burmeister

Therapeutic Yoga

Nicola’s yoga teaching is inspired by her own understanding of the depth of yoga and seeks to go beneath posture work to bring deep transformation to her students. She understands that the real Yoga is inner peace, unity and harmony, and teaches in such a way as to enable each student to find that within themselves. The poses are stepping stones on the journey, not the end result, and she offers modifications and alternative poses, making her classes accessible for everyone.

Nicola teaches a mindful vinyasa flow class helping students unite mind and body and develop inner peace and resilience, as well as outer flexibility and strength. As we age, we tend to get stiffer and less flexible in both mind and body, making change harder to deal with and increased pain and restriction in both mind and body. This doesn't have to be the case and Nicola loves to help people create more flexibility and health through yoga.

Our outer environment is fluid and we can only find true freedom and happiness by developing our inner strength and resilience, enabling us to respond more effectively to the forever changing environment.

Massage Therapy

"Nicola is a skilled and sensitive therapist. She was instrumental in my healing Chrohn’s disease and she has been a wonderful source of ongoing support since then" (Sam, Coach, July 2024)

Massage therapy is a treatment that involves manipulating the body's soft tissues to improve overall health and well-being. Through various techniques such as kneading, stroking, and applying pressure, Nicola can help alleviate muscle tension, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.

Additionally, massage therapy can also aid in injury recovery, improve circulation, and enhance flexibility. Many people seek out massage to relieve chronic pain, improve posture, and boost their immune system. Whether it's a Swedish massage for relaxation or a deep tissue massage for muscle tension, this holistic approach to healing has been practiced for centuries and continues to offer countless benefits for both the body and mind.

"The success of Yoga must not be measured by how flexible your body becomes, but rather by how much it opens your heart".    T.K.V. Desikachar

"Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees. It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence. Yoga allows you to find a new kind of freedom that you may not have known even existed." B.K.S. Isengard, Light on Life

“The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and a scented massage everyday." Hippocrates
